We don't usually promote movies, but this may be of interest to some of our members. Our club, and other bridge clubs in Sydney, have received some promotional material from a film festival running in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.

It’s a documentary called Dirty Tricks, which dives into the world of competitive bridge and the controversial Fisher and Schwartz cheating scandal.

The organisers say they have had lots of interest in the film from bridge fans across Australia, so much so that they have added some extra screenings! You may be interested to check out the Trailer.

Dirty Tricks:

Dirty Tricks invites you into the world of competitive bridge, enjoyed by millions around the world, where billionaires sponsor elite players in ruthless high-stakes tournaments. At the age of 26, Lotan Fisher is an international bridge superstar, dominating nearly every tournament he plays in until his nemesis accuses him of cheating.

This thrilling true-crime documentary reveals the truth behind one of the world’s most bizarre feuds, and the massive controversy that threatens to bring down the entire world of competitive bridge. Screening as part of the Jewish International Film Festival from 3 March – 4 April at Ritz Cinemas, Randwick. www.jiff.com.au

Some believe 26 year old Lotan Fisher is the world’s best player -  ‘the Michael Jordan of Bridge’. His nemesis is Boye Borgland, who accuses him of having cheated throughout his entire career. Lotan vehemently denies the accusation and things escalate, putting millions of dollars and both players' lucrative careers at stake.

The film has received mixed reviews. For example -  "a bridge-playing narcissist talking about himself" and "a stultifying, jaggedly edited portrait of a self-absorbed bridge player".    On the other hand - "how a bad loser can change the life of a better player just by crying over and over ....he is cheating!!"

You may wish to make arrangements to see the film.
