BBO Results Wednesday 22nd April

bbo

First of all please read this help sheet below -  put together by our directors - to help all BBO players.

We have changed to 3 board rounds to reduce the waiting time.  However, if you play very fast, sometimes you will have to wait for another table to be finished before you can play new opponents.  Your screen hasn’t frozen. Please just be patient.

The clock is set up just like it is at the club - when there are 4 minutes left on the round and you haven’t started bidding, the programme will automatically give you an average.  Whilst this is frustrating, please understand this will happen from time to time.

If you see your partner’s name go to (reserved) in brackets this generally means they have lost internet connection.  Best thing, for partner is to try and log out of BBO and log back in.

Please call the director if nothing has happened at the table for a minute or two and the director can organise a sub so that when your partner gets back, they can continue playing. To call for the director click on the blue menu box in the top right (left) and then click on Call Director.  The director will come to your table as soon as he/she is available.

UNDOs. Whilst we are all getting used to playing online sometimes, a player may click the wrong button so, please allow your opponents an UNDO.

ALERTING - the easiest way to start is to type your explanation and then select your bid, number and denomination.  There is still a number of players that are not alerting.  As in our normal club scene, NON-ALERTING is an infraction, so please remember ALERT your own bid- this is sent to your opponents - NOT your partner.

PROFILE.  It would be great to have your actual name (First -if not your whole name) so the opponents know who they are playing and can say Hi.  Look for TAB called ACCOUNT. Click and change / add where necessary, under OTHER, show your basic system to which your opponents can refer to check on your bids. Cover those bids you would make, e.g. Bergen, 1430, high/lo.

At the start of each round, you should imagine you are at a “normal” bridge table. This means welcome and quick explanation of your system. Easiest way to be ready is to “cut and paste” from either notepad or a word document. Alternatively, refer them to your PROFILE where you have inserted the pertinent details of your system. Try to remember - have fun and enjoy – and stay safe.

Oh, one last thing, YOUR hand is always at the bottom of the screen, irrespective of where you are actually sitting and if your name bar becomes YELLOW, you need to ACT - either to BID or PLAY.
