New Staff Appointment

Gary Barwick has been appointed to the position of NSBC Online Bridge Manager. 

Gary has been with us since last December in the interim role of Online Operations Manager.  Gary has clearly been a great asset to our club and he will continue to ensure playing bridge online is a great alternative to face-to-face bridge for all of us.

Gary has been appointed to this position effective 1 April and in line with the current club strategy to run separate online and face-to-face operations until April 2022 he has been engaged on a fixed term contract.  The committee expects online bridge to remain popular into the future and as such it is hoped that Gary will be offered a permanent role next year.

Many of you have probably spoken to Gary but may not know him all that well. He has always been fascinated by electronics, mathematics and the sciences. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney.  He subsequently pursued a path of software development working for Reuters on stock market analysis applications in Sydney and on Realtime News servers in New York. He has also developed production and quality control applications for Mars/Masterfoods in Australia.

Then at age 35 Gary found and fell in love with bridge. It changed his life once again. He does also love to travel the world but he loves bridge so much that whenever he travels, he looks for bridge clubs along the way.

Gary and the team will continue to provide us all with many opportunities to play the game we love online.
