This was the first Thursday night event of the year. The winners were Arthur Ramer and Axel Johannsson with an average of 61% for their best two scores. Runners up were Gary Lane and David Smee.

The MUNDELL team were runners-up in the Final of the National Women's Teams Championship held in Canberra last weekend. After a closely fought match, they eventually went down to the BOURKE team 150-128.

More sad news. It is with great sadness that I report the sudden death of Jan O’Donnell on December 25. Jan loved her bridge and has played at Willoughby for over 10 years and more recently at East Lindfield. She will be sadly missed by her many friends.

It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of Don Smith, a long time NSBC member, who died on Christmas Day, aged 96.
