Details of Proposed Merger with Lindfield Bowling Club

info sessiion

An information session was held on Friday to explain and answer members’ questions for the proposed merger of North Shore Bridge Club with Lindfield Bowling Club.

Dozens of members of NSBC, together with Roger Parks and Ian Kimmorley from the Bowling Club were present in person at East Lindfield, while others tuned in online.

The details and the motivation for this amalgamation have already been circulated to club members. Club President Sharon Thompson ran through the proposal as itemised in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by both clubs.

The merger will result in significant benefits for members of both clubs, with the prospect of long-term security and significant improvements in the facilities at the venue. A huge effort by the committees of both clubs has brought us to this point, while legal advice from lawyers of both clubs has ensured that all the legal requirements are being met.

After a number of questions from those present were answered, there were many expressions of appreciation to Sharon and her committee for the tremendous work done to have this opportunity for our club to have a “Forever Home” - at a fraction of the cost that would be needed if we were to attempt purchase of a property without this merger.

An informal show of hands demonstrated that there was overwhelming enthusiasm and support for this proposal to go ahead.

Members are invited to attend an Extraordinary General Meeting to be held at 11:30am on Saturday 22nd November to vote on this proposal - for North Shore Bridge Club to merge with Lindfield Bowling Club.
