Happy 90th Birthday, June Straw
Today we celebrate a truly remarkable milestone as one of our most treasured members, June Straw, turns 90 years young.
Many members will know June as a former Bridge Director, a Life Member, and a familiar face around the club. But those titles only tell part of the story. June is one of those rare people whose contribution cannot be measured simply by the roles she has held, but by the countless acts of kindness, generosity and dedication she quietly gives every day.
It is difficult to visit East Lindfield without seeing June in action. Whether she is helping with Supervised Play, wiping down tables, straightening tablecloths, welcoming members, or arriving with one of her famous (and utterly delicious) date loaves, June is always finding ways to make the club a better place.
There is a saying that "some people make a place special simply by being there." June is one of those people.
Like a fine wine, June has only improved with age. Her wisdom, warmth, humour and generosity have enriched our club community for decades. She embodies everything that makes our club special – friendship, kindness, service and a genuine love of bringing people together.
While we celebrate her 90th birthday today, we are also celebrating the enormous impact she has had on so many lives. Generations of members have benefited from her encouragement, guidance and friendship, and our club is undoubtedly stronger because of her.
June, thank you for everything you have done, and continue to do, for our club. You are a genuine club gem, a much-loved friend to many, and an inspiration to us all.
