The Willis Recreation and Sports Centre
Our bridge club had been using the premises of Club Willoughby (Legion Club) from 2007 until March 2020 when it ceased operating due to the covid pandemic. As the Legion Club is in the process of re-developing the site, North Shore Bridge Club will not be returning to this venue.
As a temporary measure, the club leased rooms at the North Ryde RSL Club until mid 2021.
We have now leased space at The Willis Recreation and Sports Centre on Eastern Valley Way, Middle Cove to provide a second venue for us to play bridge, as well as providing an administrative centre for our club. Some members will remember this as one of our venues prior to 2015. Council has now leased it to a new private operator who will make every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Although initially we have a trial arrangement, we hope to make this a long term home for our club.

Directions
Driving:
From North Shore and Northern Beaches: Drive South along Eastern Valley Way until you see the T-intersection with Smith Street. The entrance driveway is about 100-150m past this intersection - on the left.
From the South: It is legal, but difficult (due to heavy oncoming traffic), to enter the above driveway on the right. Safer to keep going, turn left into Smith St - then double back.
Buses: Take any bus that goes in either direction along Eastern Valley Way. There are also buses from Chatswood Station that take you to the corner of Boundary St and Eastern Valley Way. The club is a 10 minute walk from here.
Parking:
The main carpark has roughly 90 spaces but is shared with other users of the facility. It includes two disabled parks near the ramp down to the clubhouse.
There is a SECOND carpark to the north (lower) side of the facility that not many know about. There is room for almost 50 cars in this space. Unfortunately it is difficult to scout out the main carpark then head back north if there is no room for you, but if you are comfortable walking a gentle 3 minutes to the clubroom, this is an excellent option for those coming from the north to make sure you get a park.
Access to the second carpark when driving from the north is from a driveway to your left just before the Smith St traffic lights.
Departing:
Towards North Shore and Northern Beaches: It can be difficult to turn right and head north due to the traffic coming quickly from the South. The safest option is to exit to the south and continue for approximately 800m before you can turn right and start heading north again.
Towards the South: The exit points towards the southbound lane so you can get away quickly after your session.
