Members' Masterpoint Reports
Under the Australian Bridge Federation (ABF) North Shore Bridge Club has 2 x Clubs.
The McCutcheon Trophy is awarded annually by the ABF to the player who accumulates the highest number of masterpoints within the year. There are separate awards for each Rank, this is based on the rank that you start the year on.
Earning Masterpoints
Masterpoints are awarded for all Club duplicate games, with the exception of Supervised games. The allocation of points is based on the number of boards and type of event:
- Green Points: These are awarded at regular Club games and are possibly the hardest points to earn.
- Club Red Points: Awarded at special Club events and Championships. The quota allocated is more generous than Green Points, but these events are limited.
- Congress Red Points: These are awarded at State-level Congresses. The allocation quota is far more generous, making them easier to earn compared to Club Red Points.
- Gold Points: These are the most special and rare points, awarded only at National Congresses. The allocation quota is extremely generous, making them highly coveted.
The lesson here? If you want to earn Masterpoints, improve your Bridge Ranking, and maybe even compete for the McCutcheon Trophy at your level, play as many Congresses as you can—especially State and National ones! To view our Congress and Red Point Events click here.
