2026 Annual General Meeting

committee

An impressive gathering of members turned up at the NSBC Annual General Meeting held on Saturday at our East Lindfield venue - well in excess of the quorum required by our Constitution.

The President, Sharon Thompson opened the meeting with expressions of appreciation to the outgoing committee for their excellent service during the past year. All members of the 2025 committee agreed to continue their service for 2026 - the only change being that Terry Dunne was standing down as secretary, but staying on the committee. Robyn Rogers will be the Secretary for 2026.

With all positions on the committee being filled and no other nominations, there was no need to conduct any elections.

President Sharon Thompson proceeded with the formalities of the AGM, including the presentation and acceptance of the annual report of the committee and the audited financials. These documents are available on this website under Documents / AGM Documents. Click here.

Although Sharon was too modest to dwell on the major achievement of the committee during the past year - the merging of the Bowling and Bridge Clubs - the details can be found in the President's report in the AGM Documents. The club is in awe and full of admiration for Sharon and her team in being able to secure a "forever home" for our bridge club. The result is a win-win for both bridge club and bowling club members. The results of this partnership are already being felt with work already started and continuing in the upgrade of the bowling greens and imrovements in clubroom facilities.

Brian Soutter

Towards the end of the meeting, Sharon and Gary made a presentation to Brian Soutter. After nearly 23 years of dedicated service, Brian will be stepping down from his role as a Bridge Director at North Shore Bridge Club.

Since July 2003, Brian has been a constant at our tables—keeping us in line (sometimes more successfully than others!), running our sessions with care and professionalism, and quietly ensuring that everything ticks along as it should. Quite simply, the Club has been better because of him.
